Our best-seller of the month is Norwegian soprano Lise Davidsen’s debut album on Decca, which includes Strauss’s Four Last Songs and arias and scenes from two of her signature-roles, Elisabeth from Wagner’s Tannhäuser and Strauss’s Ariadne – you can read our full review of the album here, and Katherine’s interview with Davidsen (given the morning after her full-role debut as Elisabeth) here.
Lithuanian conductor Mirga Gražinytė-Tyla’s recording of two symphonies by Mieczysław Weinberg (whose centenary falls this year) continues to attract attention, slipping down just one place from the top spot in last month’s chart, and Alexandre Kantorow’s album of the last three Saint-Saëns piano concertos makes an appearance at No. 23 in the wake of his victory at the International Tchaikovsky Competition last week.
