Presto Classical Chart logoJohn Wilson's 'incredibly stylish and joyous' complete recording of Frank Loesser's Guys and Dolls with Sinfonia of London swept the board last month, following in the footsteps of their bestselling accounts of Lerner & Loewe's My Fair Lady and Rodgers & Hammerstein's Carousel (which topped the September chart in 2025 and 2024 respectively).

Starring Sierra Boggess as Salvation Army sergeant Sarah Brown, Nathaniel Hackmann as inveterate gambler Sky Masterson and Louise Dearman as the perpetually-engaged showgirl Miss Adelaide, the recording has been described as 'one of the best things Wilson has done' (The Arts Desk), 'the best yet in his ongoing Chandos series' (Gramophone), and 'indispensable for serious fans of classical musicals' (BBC Music Magazine).

Other popular titles included Sir András Schiff's recital of late Brahms piano works on ECM, I Fagiolini and Robert Hollingworth's 'close to unbeatable' (Gramophone) account of the Monteverdi Vespers on CORO, and the first instalment of the Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin's survey of Emilie Mayer's symphonic works on Harmonia Mundi (featuring Alexander Melnikov in her sole piano concerto).
