Our best-seller of the month is Isata Kanneh-Mason’s debut album celebrating the bicentenary of Clara Schumann’s birth, including the Piano Concerto which Schumann premiered aged sixteen, the Piano Sonata which remained unpublished until 1991, and two transcriptions of her husband’s songs – you can read our full review of the album here, and Katherine’s interview with Isata here.
Other newcomers include Handel Concerti Grossi from Bernhard Forck and the Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin, Wynton Marsalis’s Violin Concerto for Nicola Benedetti, and the world premiere recording of the complete string quartets of Czech composer and conductor Karel Kovařovic, best known today for directing the first performance of Dvořák’s Rusalka and for his revisions to the score of Janáček’s Jenůfa.
