August Chart 2019Our best-seller of the month is Mahan Esfahani's 'intellectually satisfying and profoundly emotionally rewarding' recording of Bach Toccatas, performed on a reconstructed Michael Mietke instrument fitted with a 16’ bass coupler and released on Hyperion at the beginning of August – you can read our full review of the album here, and David’s interview with Mahan here. Several of last Friday’s new releases are already proving extremely popular, with Alina Ibragimova and Cédric Tiberghien’s Brahms Violin Sonatas (also on Hyperion), John Wilson’s debut recording of Korngold with Sinfonia of London, and Rumon Gamba’s second volume of British Tone Poems on Chandos (both on Chandos) all making the Top Ten in the space of just 72 hours!
