Le Palmarès des Diapason d'or de l'année 2021
Over the course of the past decade or so, the French magazine Diapason's ‘Palmarès’ (or 'Golden Tuning-Forks of the Year') have come to be regarded as France’s most prestigious accolades for recorded classical music; this year's winners included French organist Olivier Latry's Liszt recital on the Rieger organ of the Philharmonie de Paris (La Dolce Volta), the tenth instalment of Giovanni Antonini's mammoth Haydn series on Alpha (subtitled 'Les heures du jour' and featuring Symphonies Nos. 6-8), Leif Ove Andsnes's Mozart Momentum: 1785 project with the Mahler Chamber Orchestra on Sony, and Michael Spyres and Lawrence Brownlee's dazzling Rossini album Amici e Rivali (which featured in our Top 10 Recordings of 2020 almost exactly this time last year).
