Two phenomenal young pianists are out in front this month, with the first instalment of Daniil Trifonov’s Rachmaninov concertos with Yannick Nezet-Séguin and the Philadelphia Orchestra occupying the top spot, closely followed by Igor Levit’s Life Album (conceived as a memorial to a friend who was recently killed in a road accident, and featuring music by Liszt, Busoni, Schumann and Frederic Rzewski).
