The Presto Chart - December 2021
An Elizabethan Christmas from Fretwork and mezzo Helen Charlston proved our most popular title for December: featuring music by Byrd, Holborne, Gibbons, Peerson and Weelkes, the album was released on Signum in October, and was one of our two Christmas Recordings of the Week (the other was Christiane Karg and Gerold Huber's 'Christmas Promenade' Licht der Welt, which sits at No. 16).
New festive titles from The Sixteen and the Choir of King's College Cambridge also made the Top 10, as did two of our Recordings of the Year: American pianist and composer Kit Armstrong's Visionaries of Piano Music (released on Deutsche Grammophon in the summer) and the Takács Quartet's disc of music by Felix & Fanny Mendelssohn, which came out on Hyperion at the end of October.
