About
In 1952 Carl Seemann started to record for Deutsche Grammophon and he stayed on this label most of his career. Over the years he recorded many celebrated albums for the Yellow Label, especially Beethoven’s complete Sonatas for piano and violin with Wolfgang Schneiderhan or his Mozart solo and orchestral recordings. This edition, marking 40 years (in 2023) since the death of Carl Seemann, brings together for the first time his complete recordings on 25 CDs and one Blu-ray Audio Disc. The 84-page booklet contains essays by Carsten Dürer, Joachim Kaiser and Norbert Hornig.
“The sheer truthfulness [of Seemann’s readings] is now clear from his recorded legacy” – Joachim Kaiser
“Ensemble as perfect as one can hope for in this world... [Seemann and Schneiderhan] each with the Mozartian style in their fingertips” – Gramophone
Highlights include:
- Seemann’s celebrated Mozart recordings on 11 CDs
- His famous Beethoven and Brahms duo recordings with violinist Wolfgang Schneiderhan
- The Hindemith recordings, originally released on Koch Schwann and out of print for many years
- Several recordings never available on CD before
- Blu-ray Audio disc contains Beethoven’s complete Sonatas for Piano and Violin with Wolfgang Schneiderhan
