Gimell - 20% off

Founded in 1981 by Steve Smith and Peter Phillips to produce recordings by British early music vocal ensemble The Tallis Scholars, Gimell is named after a compositional technique commonly used in the early Renaissance music which dominates the group’s repertoire. Gimell’s debut recording of Allegri and Palestrina was an instant success, reaching No. 1 in the UK Classical Chart, and the album was subsequently named as one of the Fifty Greatest Recordings of All Time by BBC Music Magazine. The label’s discography now runs to over fifty recordings, with highlights including Josquin’s Missa Pange Lingua and Missa La Sol Fa Re Mi (Gramophone’s Recording of the Year in 1987) and a Grammy-nominated account of Morales’s Missa Si bona suscipimus. Although the label specialises in fifteenth- and sixteenth-century repertoire, the catalogue also includes music by Rachmaninov, Stravinsky, John Tavener, Arvo Pärt, and Eric Whitacre.

Until 28th December 2020 we're offering 20% off on recordings on the entire Gimell catalogue including downloads (please note that the download prices shown are already discounted).
