About
An interesting collection of arias, duets and popular orchestral excerpts by some of the greatest opera composers of all time - Puccini, Verdi, Mascagni and Massenet. Tracks include rarely recorded gems from the operas Simon Boccanegra, Werther, Edgar, L’Amico Fritz and Le Cid, as well as orchestral favourites Capriccio sinfonico and the Overture from I vespri siciliani. The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra is conducted on this recording by opera specialist Renato Balsadonna – celebrated Chorus Director of the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, since 2004.
