Sung in English - in what is often referred to as 'the Rathaus edition'. Rathaus was the scrupulous editor of an edition erected precisely because Rudolf Bing and Mitropoulos wanted to use Mussorgsky’s original as the basis for a new production rather than Rimsky-Korsakov. Tozzi and Mitroupoulos both turn in terrific performances.
