Presto is known and trusted for its reliable range of learner-friendly violins, including the teacher-recommended Stentor Student, Graduate and Conservatoire models, Hidersine’s well-balanced student instruments, peaking with the impressive Piacenza, and most recently, Primavera’s outstandingly budget-friendly range, whose unique tonal maturity provides a perfect addition to our beginner collection.

Alongside this core range, we are delighted to introduce a more advanced calibre of violin, beginning with Eastman’s Concertante, Young Master and Master series for the advancing musician, and attaining new heights with Heritage’s Stradivarius and Guarneri models, complete with gold setup and Larsen strings for maximum playing potential.

We now offer an expanded range of viola and cello options in addition to our violins, beginning with the steady Stentor student options, and newly extending to Eastman’s concertante models for higher-grade playing. We even hold a double bass in store, for anyone looking to take on a larger, jazzier challenge…

All our stringed instruments are set up and checked over by our experienced repair team prior to being stored or displayed, so you can rest assured that your instrument is in peak condition and ready to play from the moment of purchase. We offer many of our models in multiple sizes, with the smallest suitable for players as young as 3 or 4 years old. Our specialist staff are always happy to advise on sizing - just bring your young player in, and our team can set them up with their perfect pick.

Bows, Strings and Accessories

To complement our growing instrumental collection, our new shop premises stock an improved array of bows for violin, viola and cello, from Hidersine’s budget brazilwoods to Orchestra’s highest-quality pernambuco and carbon fibre options, with plenty in between. We also offer a range of instrument cases, including selections from BAM’s sought-after ‘classic’ collection, as well as several more affordable alternatives. Finally, our selection of strings, from budget-friendly Dogal and Astrea to luxurious Larsen and Jargar, covers all bases, while our choice of rosins, shoulder rests, cello spikes and more completes your instrument outfit at any level.

Woodwind & Brass

We now stock a larger range of flutes, clarinets and saxophones for beginners right through to the aspiring professional player. Well-established brands including Trevor James, Yamaha, Buffet Crampon, Pearl, Yanagisawa and Conn-Selmer are now available in-store to come and try out. Each instrument is checked on arrival by our in-house woodwind technician to ensure that it is in perfect working order, and we offer a free ‘health check’ within the first 12 months of ownership to ensure that your instrument continues to perform at peak level*. For extra peace of mind, all instruments are guaranteed for at least one year against manufacturing faults.

We stock a small range of trumpets, cornets and trombones in our store by well-known brands including Odyssey, Elkhart, Yamaha and Bach. A more extensive range is available to view on our website: please contact our store to enquire about availability. Instruments are checked on arrival by our in-house brass technician, and we offer a free ‘health check’ within the first 12 months of ownership to ensure that your instrument continues to perform at its peak*. All instruments are guaranteed for at least one year against manufacturing faults.

We stock a wide variety of accessories for both woodwind and brass instruments, including reeds from Rico, Rico Royal and Vandoren, plus cleaning materials, polishing cloths, instrument stands, mutes, valve oils and more.

*The health check includes, as necessary, adjusting padding, felts, corks, fitting joints and regulating the mechanism. For brass instruments, this includes greasing slides and cleaning the valves.
