Introduction

Our updated download system (released March 2024) offers a choice of options for downloading your purchases.

If you are on a Windows, Mac or Linux system we'd recommend using our Download ManagerIf you are on a Windows, Mac or Linux system we'd recommend using our Download Manager. However, if you are just downloading odd tracks or only a very occasional download customer then you may feel the 'Download in browser' option is quicker and simpler.

If you are on an iPhone, iPad or Android device we'd recommend using our streaming app to listen to your download album purchases. (Note: only full album purchases are available in the streaming app. Individual tracks or works need to be downloaded using the 'download in browser' option.)

Download Manager overview

The Download Manager is an application which needs to be downloaded and installed on your computer once. After that, all future download purchases can be swiftly routed through the download manager to a specific folder and location which you can choose yourself.

The outline of the process for using the download manager is:

  1. Download the Download Manager (one time only)
  2. Install the Download Manager (one time only)
  3. Log in to the Download Manager (one time only)
  4. Choose a specific folder to which your downloads will download to (optional - a default will be created if you don't do this)
  5. On the website in the My Downloads section, choose the album and the audio codec (if applicable) you'd like to queue in the Download Manager and click the yellow 'Download in Download manager' button. The download will either start automatically or you can refresh the view in the Download Manager and start it yourself. In all cases though, downloads need to be queued on the website.

Minimum system requirements: Windows 7 or macOS 10.13 ("High Sierra"). Linux systems vary.

Download in browser overview and tips

If downloading in the browser it is important to to be able to check:

  1. which folder the files are being downloaded to,

Why have we upgraded our Download system?

Unfortunately as the size of the downloads have grown over recent years with more and more high-resolution options, it has become unsustainable to remain on our old system. Zip files have a maximum size limit, which many of our albums now breach, and users on different systems have problems with filename lengths etc. In addition, the new system allows users to start downloading files before all files have been processed, which gives a faster experience.
