Barcarola by Julian Philips is a 15-minute work for solo piano. It seeks to reinhabit the world of the 19 century Barcarolle as typified by Chopin, Liszt or Fauré, exploring the genre's distinctive motion, figurative patterns, and its formal tropes and poetic associations. On the surface, an imagined boat song – underneath a morbid, dark undertow.  Barcarola is dedicated to pianist Dominic Degavino.
