Recorded live at the Southbank Centre on 4 February 2023, Edward Gardner took on the monumental task of conducting the full orchestra, three massed choruses and a charismatic all-star cast.

it is the performances Gardner draws from the LPO and choruses that make this so hair-raising and exceptional. I have rarely heard La course à l’abîme/Pandaemonium sound so terrifying. The Chant de la Fête de Pâques, meanwhile, seems more beautiful, and more shattering, than ever; it is as if its emotional power and depth are striking you for the first time.
