This recording uses a new reconstruction by Clemens Kemme, which does not provide music for the completely missing movements, but fleshes out the instrumentation in the others and expands and redistributes the part writing in the double fugu in the Osanna and elsewhere…The soloists are pleasing, especially Christina Landshamer in ‘Laudamus te’.

Kemme offers a version that presents the work itself in the state it was left, with the incomplete movements reorchestrated…This is, of course, meat and drink to the musicologist, although it is perhaps of less import to the general buyer…As to the performance, it displays all the qualities one would expect from one of Germany’s foremost period ensembles.

German soprano Christina Landshamer sings beautifully with a bright, radiant tone delivering splendid high notes and excels especially in the opening movement Kyrie eleison with chorus.
