About
The Woman Without a Shadow was the admission ticket for Sebastian Weigle as Chief Music Director of the Frankfurt Opera; what could be more appropriate, then, than to issue this opera on CD? Strauss specialist Weigle has brought both established singers and role debutantes to the stage, including Terje Stensvold, who made his farewell from the Frankfurt stage in this series in 2014.

The revelation is music director Sebastian Weigle's unstintingly well paced conducting and the fabulously precise, emotionally generous orchestral playing reflected in truthful sound...Kudos to Weigle for giving us the score absolutely complete - a rarity in the theatre. Lyric-dramatic soprano Tamara Wilson burns here, and it's a great operatic journey
