The gentler but richly-hued aspects of Russian folklore in the tone-poem Legend, derived from Pushkin's Russlan i Lyudmila, Sinaisky captures with sparkle and energy, likewise the dancing, lyrical Sinfonietta on Russian Themes.

Rimsky's vivid music gets a rare outing in this exhilarating programme. The familiar Capriccio espagnole is also splendidly presented: Sinaisky's performance is expansive, warmly relaxed… the closing Fandango produces a burst of exhilarating bravura.
