About

A unique opportunity to rediscover Nathaniel Shilkret’s lost trombone concerto - something of a Holy Grail for trombonists, written for Tommy Dorsey at Leopold Stokowski’s request and first performed in 1945. After this performance, the score disappeared, as did the orchestral parts, and it took more than 60 years before the piece was ever performed again in its original form. That performance opens this disc.
