Remembered mostly for his keyboard works, Domenico Scarlatti is revealed here as a masterly choral writer encompassing a wealth of musical styles. Taking its name from the captivating but rarely heard Iste Confessor (Witness of the Lord), it includes his glorious polyphonic setting of Stabat Mater, a powerful depiction of the Virgin Mary at the foot of Christ's cross.
