Robert Murray
Nationality: British
British tenor Robert Murray was born in Essex and trained at the Royal College of Music, the National Opera Studio, and on Covent Garden’s Jette Parker Young Artists Programme; early career successes included second prize at the 2003 Kathleen Ferrier Awards. His discography includes Berlioz’s Grand Messe des Morts and mendelssohn’s Elijah with Paul McCreesh and Gabrieli on Signum, Jonathan in Handel’s Saul with The Sixteen and Harry Christophers on Coro, Bob Boles on ‘Grimes on the Beach’ (an on-location open-air performance and recording of Britten’s opera on Aldeburgh Beach to mark the composer’s centenary in 2013), Schumann songs with Graham Johnson on Hyperion, and Il Sogno di Scipione and Mitridate in Ian Page’s ongoing Mozart opera series with Classical Opera.
