Also featuring JS Bach's Partita No. 6, Schubert's Piano Sonata No. 6, and Beethoven's Piano Sonata Op. 90, the album was praised by Presto's Matthew Ash for the 'etched, architectural quality of Ólafsson's playing', whilst The Guardian enthused that the Icelandic pianist 'opens up a transcendent vista on to a brave new world.'
And many of you are clearly already getting into the festive spirit, with The Sarahbanda's Cuban Christmas, the Monteverdi Choir and Christophe Rousset's Baroque Christmas, and the Choir of St. John's College Cambridge's O Holy Night all making the chart - look out for our 'Twelve Discs of Christmas' feature this coming Friday for more seasonal listening suggestions!
