About
Founded in 1987 the annual Rarities of Piano Music Festival in the North German town of Husum is a major event. Danacord is proud to release the recording from the 29th Festival in 2015 featuring again rare piano music played by some of the leading pianists of today.
Among the highlights you will find the spontaneous improvisation on themes played by Cyprien Katsaris, - one of the most amazing performances ever! - and some truly magic playing by Yuri Favorin, Jonathan Plowright and Alex Hassan. Many of the works are first ever CD recordings and, as usual, all are unedited live performances.

[this recording demonstrates] that it is quite possible for a disc of recital highlights to be entertaining as well as spiritually nourishing, and that pianists, as much as their audiences, can have a mutually rewarding time going off piste. A Husum recital will generally leave the audience with a smile on its face…a treasure chest of forgotten or unknown gems
