Diary Pieces is an ongoing project, which I began in 2015. Since then, in most years, I have written one or two sets of 7 short pieces, which I see as almost private jottings, much in the manner of writing a diary entry.

Most of the pieces are written during the course of a single day, though I refined some of them subsequent to the initial composition. Many are like single snap-shots of one idea or emotional state or a kind of sound. There are a number of recurring musical types that recall past models, sometimes closely, at others at one remove. These are interlaced with other movements in more contemporary manners. A few of the pieces are also more like fragments than wholes: these are for me as if a window onto a view is briefly opened, or a memory, just for a moment, re-awakened.
