About

This work narrates a love between 2 artists with one reflecting back over their life together ? the falling in love, the arguments and the reuniting, as they navigate their relationship. With the title inspired by the reality that ideas often come to me between sleeping and waking, each piece can function as a stand-alone piece or as a part within the work when performed in entirety. The first piece, Upon Reflection works well as an optional return piece when performed again at the end, to give a circular feel to the overall work.

Created across a period of 20 years between 1995 - 2015, extracts from this work were first performed at the Queen Elizabeth Hall by Helen Caddick on 21 September 2015 as part of Secret Southbank in a final concert before the hall was closed for a 2 year renovation. Between sleeping and waking? was performed in full by the composer on 20 February 2016 at All Saints, Tudeley, surrounded by Marc Chagall?s beautiful windows.
