The harp plays a gently unwinding romantic melody, taking us on a quasi-improvisational journey of ever-increasing intensity while muted strings supply a supportive bed of sensuous harmonies. Kaimai Sunset was composed in 2008 in Tauranga, New Zealand, and formed the slow movement of Tauranga Concerto for clarinet and strings. The melody was inspired by the intense and ever-changing colours of the sun as it set behind the Kaimai Hills, and is lovingly dedicated to my wife Sharon who watched the sunsets with me. This arrangement for harp and strings was in turn inspired by the heartfelt playing of twelve year-old Polish harp prodigy Zarina Zaradna. Paul Lewis. This pack includes a full score, solo harp parrt and 4/4/3/4/2 string parts.
