"Rodolphe Kreutzer’s 42 Studies are a kind of elementary course for violinists through which every pupil learning in a particular time should go, and without which it is difficult to imagine them developing correct technique. This arrangement of Kreutzer’s Studies goes in the direction suggested by pedagogue-pragmatists, that is: introducing small abbreviations in the longest etudes (in the pupil’s mind shorter is easier, and certainly simpler to remember), but while doing this I tried to apply the greatest care and feeling to not disrupt the consequential and well-conceived forms."
