About
"Via Sacra is the generic title for a cycle of four orchestral works. The four works may be seen as four movements of a single work. The title literally means 'sacred way' and refers to the ancient belief that the act of consecration through naming or ritual (usually involving fire or water) separates regions of chaos and order. The four works of Via Sacra are: Genos Sigma's Polka Gamma Lugubre Lapsus (ex machina . . . ) Via Sacra was commissioned by the Société Philharmonique de Bruxelles for Brussels 2000 (European City of Culture). The first performance was given by the Orchestre Philharmonique du Luxembourg conductor Patrick Davin in March 2000 at the Ars Musica Festival in Brussels."
