Doin' Allright' was recorded at the Van Gelder Studio, Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey, on 6th May 1961. A rebirth for the jazz icon after a decade in which drug addiction and legal troubles limited his output, the album features a top-flight quintet including trumpeter Freddie Hubbard, pianist Horace Parlan, bassist George Tucker and drummer Al Harewood. The record showcases bluesy hard-bop originals like 'Society Red' and also a famous take on the ballad 'You've Changed'.
