The latest new jazz releases for this week include a reissue of Dave Holland's 1973 album Conference of the Birds on ECM, London eight-piece group Kokoroko's debut Could We Be More?, and Tenderlonious' collaboration with Lorenzo Morresi Cosmica Italiana.

London eight-piece Kokoroko's debut Could We Be More releases this week on Brownswood Recordings, combining both West African and inner-city London sounds led by horns and percussive rhythm.

A new J-Jazz reissue from BBE, this is the 1979 debut record of Japanese painist Masao Nakajima. Recorded with an all-acoustic trio when many of his contemporaries were deep in electric fusion, it went mostly ignored at its time of release. However, much like the rest of BBE's J-Jazz series, a real hidden gem.

Originally teased back at the end of 2020 with a single of the same name, Cosmica Italiana is a collaboration between Italian DJ/producer/musician Lorenzo Morresi and multi-instrumentalist/22a label boss Tenderlonious, inspired by funky Italian library music.
