This week's new release round-up includes the debut albums of London-based solo artist DoomCannon on Gilles Peterson's Brownswood label, American-born/Prague-based vocalist Allison Wheeler on Ubuntu Music, and Bern-based five-piece Swiss Jazz Ambassadors. Allison Wheeler

California-born, Prague-based vocalist/songwriter Allison Wheeler also makes her debut this week on Ubuntu Music, with spacious compositions that cite other female vocalists as diverse as Regina Spektor, Norma Winstone and Fiona Apple as inspirations.

Swiss Jazz Ambassadors

After the Storm is the debut record of the Swiss Jazz Ambassadors, an international five-piece brought together in the capital city of Bern by their mutual love of contemporary jazz music.

A career-long retrospective of Hot Lips Page, the American trumpeter-vocalist known for his fiery technique, comes courtesy of Retrospective this month, featuring over 2 and a half hours of recordings from the late '20s to early '50s.
