Shabaka

The solo artist debut of multireedist and London jazz heavyweight Shabaka Hutchings - credited mononymously here as Shabaka - is one of the more meditative releases in his long catalogue of albums, exploring vast atmospheric improvisations on flute, clarinet and shakuhachi with a handful of accompanying talents.

Available Formats: MP3, FLAC, Hi-Res FLAC

ACT Music's new compilation celebrates the female talent of the label, with selections including tracks from Anna Gréta's Nightjar in the Northern Sky, Ida Sand's Meet Me Around Midnight and Johanna Summer's performance of Schumann's 'Kinderszenen'.

Andrés Thor

Icelandic guitarist Andrés Thor's latest record is a set of highly evocative originals, with the guitarist citing the likes of Pat Metheny and John Scofield as inspirations (and these comparisons aren't totally unfounded). There's also a certain hard-rocking edge to Andrés' music, adding a little spice to the carefully-constructed trio music.

Available Formats: CD, MP3, FLAC, Hi-Res FLAC

Lorenzo de Finti Quartet

The third release on Losen Records from the Lorenzo De Finti Quartet is a slice of incredibly lyrical jazz that pulls off both effortless swing and gentle chamber-like compositons.

Available Formats: CD, MP3, FLAC, Hi-Res FLAC
