Nina Simone

Recent additions to our jazz vinyl catalogue include reissues of classic albums by Nina Simone and Ella Fitzgerald, archival recordings of blues legend Robert Johnson, and a repressing of vocalist Gretchen Parlato's latest album Flor from last year on coloured vinyl.

Nina Simone

A 20th Century Masterworks reissue on blue vinyl with alternate cover art, Little Girl Blue was the only recording made while Simone was with Bethlehem Records, including tunes like Duke Ellington's 'Mood Indigo', Rodgers & Hammerstein's 'You'll Never Walk Alone' and the title track by Rodgers & Hart. This was recorded when Simone was early in her career, in her early-20s and still an aspiring classical concert pianist.

Another reissue courtesy of 20th Century Masterworks on yellow vinyl, Ella Fitzgerald's Cole Porter collection is one of the most popular of her 'songbook' records series. This reissue features new liner notes by Penguin Guide to Jazz writer Brian Morton.

And if Ella Fitzgerald doing Cole Porter isn't enough, there's also this reissue of Oscar Peterson's collection of Porter works from 1959 - featuring the same trio of Peterson with Ray Brown and Ed Thigpen as on the classic Night Train.

Robert Johnson

New Continent's new collection of Robert Johnson music includes 20 originals by the blues legend, all recorded between 1936-37, including 'Sweet Home Chicaco', 'Love in Vain', and 'Terraplane Blues'.

Johnny Dyani Quartet

A repress from SteepleChase of the bassist Johnny Dyani's Song for Biko, recorded in the summer of 1978 with a lineup that included Don Cherry.

Joe Bonner

This recording - reissued on SteepleChase - was originally made during one of pianist Joe Bonner's many trips to Denmark in the 1980s, with this particular one being a collection of solo performances.

Gretchen Parlato

Originally releasing last year, vocalist Gretchen Parlato's new album Flor is available for a second vinyl run on yellow vinyl.
