About

La Serenissima, the renowned baroque ensemble, returns with its second album of 2025. It features works by composers such as Telemann, Sieber, Durante, Vivaldi and Brescianello and delves into the evolution of their styles as they navigate the cultural borders between Italy, Germany, France, and other European regions.

Founded in 1994 by violinist Adrian Chandler, La Serenissima is a British early music ensemble specialising in the works of Vivaldi and his Venetian Baroque contemporaries.

Awards and reviews

August 2025

There is a cosmopolitan feel to this recording of music by CROSSING BORDERS well-known and unfamiliar Baroque composers...The Red Priest himself is represented by an unmistakably Venetian-style concerto for recorder, while a violin sonata fragment by Francesco Durante displays the rival Neapolitan style.

August 2025

Fascinating, poetically communicative, subtly virtuosic, thoroughly beautiful, this is my favourite La Serenissima album in some years.
