This new album from the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Michael Poll, shines a spotlight on three remarkable 20th-century American composers. At the heart of the album, violinist Jack Liebeck brings his remarkable virtuosity, and a richly expressive sound reminiscent of the golden era of violin playing, to Samuel Barber’s beloved Violin Concerto. Complimenting this centrepiece are Byron Adams’s evocative Midsummer Music and David Conte’s vibrant Sinfonietta, a three-movement work brimming with elegance and energy. Together, these pieces offer a compelling and diverse celebration of 20th-century American orchestral music.
