About
Franz Lehar's operetta The Merry Widow has enjoyed extraordinary international success since its 1905 premiere in Vienna and continues to be frequently revived and recorded. With the re-premiere in 1979 at Deutsche Oper Berlin, August Everding lets a forgotten piece of German-Jewish cultural history blossom again. When the Deutsche Oper Berlin performed this great work in 1979, the opera house initially had to earn strong criticism. However, this was not due to the performance itself but rather to the fact that the Deutsche Oper Berlin included operettas in their program for the first time. After 4 years we will succeeded to release this wonderful performance in cooperation with Dame Gwyneth Jones who now has agreed the publication.
