About

The Ensemble Fiori Musicali Austria was founded by the Italian harpsichordist and pianist Marinka Brecelj in 2002 to perform Renaissance and Baroque music from Italy. Over the years, crossover elements of traditional Italian, Sephardic, Oriental or South American music have also enriched the spectrum, as can be impressively experienced on the album 'Baroque Arabesque': Oriental instruments such as oud (Orwa Saleh) and various frame drums (Pat Feldner) and last but not least the singing of the Turkish singer Özlem Bulut blend with harpsichord (Marinka Brecelj), viola da gamba (Pia Pircher) and Baroque violin (Julia Kainz) to form an extremely fascinating melange of Orient and Occident. Arias by G. F. Handel or G. Caccini, instrumentals by Athanasius Kircher, Kevser Hanım, Francisco Tárrega or François Couperin and traditional songs of the Sephardic as well as from the Eastern Mediterranean immerse the audience in past eras and other cultures.
