a beautiful reading that could easily be anyone’s first choice. The Vienna Philharmonic plays gloriously, but what stands out is the detailed phrasing and utmost care taken with even minor solos. For players of virtuoso caliber to give us the Bruckner Second in excellent modern sound is something special.
