There’s no point in tackling these dense, intricate works at all if you’re not a virtuoso in the profoundest sense, as Vlaeva is and Vladigerov clearly was. The Lisztian tradition is floridly served in these 16 pieces…I’m glad to have heard the effortless transcendental pianism of Vlaeva, though, and want to hear more from her.

If you love the music of other tonal composers of the 1910s–30s, then Vladigerov will suit you well, perhaps especially in these stunning performances by Nadejda Vlaeva. I can hardly imagine these works being performed better than they are here.
July 2021
Vlaeva’s mind, fingers and soul totally embrace Vladigerov’s idiom. Her ear for tone colour and her innate sense of controlled Romanticism are exactly what this repertoire needs.
