January/February 2020

The soprano possesses a voice of warmth and amplitude that, for the most part, is consistent throughout the registers. Perhaps even more compelling is the soprano’s keen understanding of the style that attends Italian opera from the mid-19th century through the early part of the 20th. Her diction is forward, precise, and elegantly articulated. Dzhioeva well understands how to spin a grand phrase with elegance, flexibility of phrasing and dynamics, and dramatic feeling.

Awards Issue 2019

There’s plenty of bag for your buck in this high-voltage recital…Dzhioeva has the impressive breath control and cutting edge of some of the finest Russian-trained singers but with a warmth in her tone that might reflect her roots in the fiery Caucasus. It’s hard to argue with her impressive weaponry…but it’s the expressive range and variety – or, rather, lack thereof – that lets things down overall.

July 2019

I thoroughly enjoyed this recital which is like an homage to voices of a vanished age.

June 2020

This is an impressive recital disc from the South Ossetian soprano Veronika Dzhioeva, concentrating on a repertoire that generally suits her well...Her vocalism is firm and confident, her voice quite lavish, though she exhibits less strength in the top register...Her consciousness of both musical and dramatic meaning is apparent in ‘La mamma morta’, her fluent, liquid tone bearing the words aloft.
