About
Even though music lovers are acquainted with Der Freischütz, the fewest are aware of Euryanthe. In the light of the musical quality of the opera, the disdain for it does not seem fitting. Euryanthe was Webers most ambitious project, one that anything but backfired. The composition may certainly be termed ground-breaking and truly deserves more attention. A chain of glittering jewels from the beginning to the end. All witty and ingenious, Robert Schumann in his critic about Euryanthe.

January/February 2020
The Arnold Schoenberg Choir is excellent: precise and accurate, the women sweet-toned, the men full and solid. Jacquelyn Wagner is an appealing, fresh-voiced Euryanthe; not as smooth or elegant as Jessye Norman, she is much more the innocent young girl, as is the young Joan Sutherland. Norman Reinhardt is the finest Adolar of all, his ringing tenor easily encompassing the role’s wide range.
October 2019
Norman Reinhardt is a vibrant tenor, well-suited to Adolar’s role and an ideal match for Jacqueline Wagner who, as Euryanthe, is outstanding with accurate top notes and wide range.
December 2019
Stefan Cerny’s smoothly serene King gives pleasure; and the most satisfying singing comes from Jacquelyn Wagner, whose warm soprano (a mite occluded above the stave) drew me in to Euryanthe’s guilt-wracked journey through her desert of the mind.
