Yang is a remarkable player with a scintillating technique, interpretative sensitivity and soaring tonal purity…[her] intuitive way with the Hispanic style is evident immediately from her elegantly swung account of the Havanaise…She proves no less persuasive in the Introduction and Rondo capriccioso…Yet it is in the lesser-known works where Yang really comes into her own.

I think these two discs are rather good. No. Rephrase that. I think they are exceptional...Schwabe plays with a light heart and produces a light, airy tone to match...[Yang] has such a sweet tone...For pure bravura, listen to the coda of the Introduction and Rondo capriccioso, which is dispatched with a speed that almost matches Heifetz.

Saint-Saëns found a perfect fusion of form and function, and in turn Tianwa Yang is the ideal modern interpreter. My only surprise is that a recording of this calibre has been held in the Naxos vaults for more than three years. Delightful in every respect.
