Hadelich’s rich tone pays dividends in an arresting, heartfelt Tchaikovsky. The rather slighter Lalo is nevertheless given a seductive and graceful performance.

Where Hadelich’s Tchaikovsky is a touch polite, his Lalo (recorded a year earlier) bursts with character. There is plenty of beef here, both in the violin tone and in the LPO’s partnering, Omer Meir Wellber drawing out Spanish fire and stamping heels from this colourful – and strangely neglected – score. Hadelich exudes bravado in the terrific Rondo finale

Two virtuoso concertos given immaculate live performances.

It is not easy to uncover new dimensions in such a frequently played, almost hackneyed work as Tchaikovsky's violin concerto. Augustin Hadelich succeeds in doing just that, thanks to his strong violinistic profile, characterised in large part by a focussed and radiant tone, highly refined musicianship and an impressive instrumental precision that he can summon up live.

Hadelich was radically passionate, magnificently virtuosic in his rendition of the Tchaikovsky concerto...he set the orchestra positively aflame with his blazing bow.

Hadelich is compelling in his mastery of the instrument and in his impeccable and consummate violin playing. He lacks nothing of graceful ease or virtuosic power - an irresistible mixture.
