The Canonic Variations on the Christmas chorale Vom Himmel hoch, da komm ich her were composed a few years later than the Goldberg Variations. The later work was composed for organ. Pieter Dirksen has published many baroque keyboard works and regularly presents masterclasses and lectures. His first solo CD on Etcetera, Bach’s Art of the Fugue (KTC1348) was much acclaimed.
