The record label Philips was founded in 1950, and released recordings by a prestigious artists and conductors including Arthur Grumiaux, Claudio Arrau, Sviatoslav Richter, Colin Davis and Bernard Haitiknk. Leading orchestras, including the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra and London Symphony Orchestras, made numerous recordings for the label. Although recordings are no longer released under the Philips label, much of their extensive catalogue of acclaimed recordings can still be found on CD and to download.
