Trained at the University of Birmingham and the Royal Academy of Music, Gloucestershire-born Joseph Middleton is one of the most in-demand song pianists of the younger generation, and works regularly with singers including Carolyn Sampson, Dame Sarah Connolly, Sophie and Mary Bevan, Iestyn Davies, Louise Alder and Felicity Lott.

His discography includes five recital albums with Sampson (two of which were nominated for Gramophone Awards), a disc of Strauss Lieder with Alder on Orchid, Come to Me in My Dreams with Connolly, and Songs to the Moon with the Myrthen Ensemble. Awards and honours include prizes at the Kathleen Ferrier Awards, the Royal Over-Seas League and the Wigmore Hall International Song Competition. Since 2014, he has been the director of Leeds Lieder.
