November saw John Wilson and Sinfonia of London topping our bestsellers chart for the third time this year, this time with a superbly detailed account of Ravel's 1912 ballet Daphnis et Chloé; the recording uses the new edition of the score which Wilson painstakingly prepared during lockdown, incorporating the many subtle alterations to phrasing, articulation, dynamics, tempo and technical instructions which Ravel made to the parts during rehearsals and early performances.
Víkingur Ólafsson's widely-acclaimed interpretation of Bach's Goldberg Variations (currently our Bestseller of the Year) sits at No. 2, whilst the No. 3 spot goes to John Nelson's live recording of Handel's Messiah - made just down the road from us at Coventry Cathedral almost exactly this time last year...
