Twenty-year-old Spanish violinist María Dueñas's debut on Deutsche Grammophon sailed to the top of the chart last month, after featuring as Recording of the Week at the beginning of May - centring on a live account of the Beethoven concerto (complete with Dueñas's own beautifully-crafted cadenzas), Beethoven and Beyond also features shorter works by a handful of composers who wrote cadenzas for the piece, including Spohr, Ysaÿe and Wieniawski.
