July 2023

Dueñas’s performance favours the Concerto’s abundant lyrical qualities. In the magical Larghetto she combines unaffected simplicity with rich sentiment while her account of the ‘Rondo’ is certainly joyous, but thoughtful rather than rollicking.

Sep/Oct 2023

Dueñas has a beautiful tone, exemplary technique, and strong musical instincts behind her interpretation. Her first entry in the Beethoven includes her own nuanced gestures, and soon the contour of her style emerges clearly. She is a poetic, lyrical violinist who doesn’t rely on throwing her technique across the footlights.

August 2023

The manner in which Dueñas acquits herself is nothing short of remarkable: every technical hurdle surmounted with assurance, no lapses in tone or intonation, the interpretation confident and persuasive...What a player, and what a way to launch a recording career.

5th May 2023

One of the things which makes this recording special is the way she combines a sense of almost childlike wonder and exploration with absolute technical mastery and a firm, supremely confident grasp on the score’s overall architecture. And Dueñas’s own intelligently-crafted cadenzas are entirely of a piece with her overall approach to the score...Make no mistake, she’s a major talent indeed.

3rd May 2023

As soon as she enters in Beethoven’s epic Violin Concerto, you’ll equally know what Dueñas sounds like: warm and robust, blessed with a sunshine gleam that grows more intense as the notes rise. The verve and confidence of this performance with the Wiener Symphoniker and conductor Manfred Honeck verge on the astonishing.
