The Presto Chart - April 2023
For the second time this year, John Wilson and Sinfonia of London topped the Presto Chart for April, with their Rachmaninoff's Symphony No. 2 proving our most popular title by some way; their latest album of English Music for Strings (our February best-seller) maintains its foothold in Top 10 at No. 8, whilst the first instalment of their Rachmaninoff series (Symphony No. 3 and The Isle of the Dead, released last October) has also enjoyed a resurgence of interest.
Other big-hitters for April included the world premiere audio recording of Thomas Adès's ballet Dante from the LA Philharmonic and Gustavo Dudamel on Nonesuch, the young Djibouti-born guitarist Raphaël Feuillâtre's debut album on Deutsche Grammophon, and Fabio Luisi's much-praised survey of the complete Nielsen symphonies with the Danish National Symphony Orchestra (now available as a boxed set following individual digital releases over the past few months).
